Have you married the wrong person?
- Did you know on your wedding day this was not the right thing to do?
- Do you secretly wish you could be out of this marriage?
- Did you get divorced within the first 12 months of getting married?
Here are some reactions I have received & my thoughts to them
I knew on my wedding day that I should not be going through with the ceremony as I knew I was gay – I did it to keep my parents happy. I’m separated now & going through a divorce, but no one knows the real truth.
GT: No one has the right to tell you when you should “come out” but to get married to the opposite sex when your gay is for all the wrong reasons. I hope at some stage in the future you will be happy within yourself & be able to live the life you really want. I’m sure you love your wife in a different way than a partner but I dare say if she knew the truth she’s feel used. Let’s hope you can have that honest conversation with those close to you one day soon.
I have been married now for 3 years & the man I married has changed. He no longer seems to want me the way he use to want me. I feel terribly un loved & want to get out of this marriage.
GT: So does your husband know how you feel? Have you asked him what’s changed? Have you had an open & honest conversation? All these things need to happen before you take further actions. There may be a good reason for him behaving like this now – Give him at least a chance to be honest with you. Good luck.
Graham I wanted a divorce from my husband in the first six months of marrying him. All he wanted was a substitute for his Mum & that was not me – We are now divorced.
GT: Good for you – Sounds to me the man needs to grow up quickly – Maybe this has finally woke him up. Marriage is a partnership not a one way street.
So, In Summary…
Marriage should be a lifetime commitment & not a decision to be taken lightly. Please talk through all the aspects of a possible future together with your partner before tying the knot. But if you find that after marrying you are not compatible for whatever reason – Get Out – you have one life.
