When do you know it’s the beginning of the end for a relationship?
- What are the signs?
- Are you feeling the bush off?
- What do you suspect?
Here are some reactions I have received & my thoughts to them
Graham, My boyfriend of 5 years keeps saying – “it’s not you I’m just tired” – What am I supposed to read into that?
GT: So how do you think the relationship is going? Has it gone stale? Is he stressed out over something? – A few things you need to be openly chatting to him about – Not in a demanding way, more in a concerned way – If you really think that it’s the beginning of the end call his bluff and ask him the question outright. But beware, if he is stressed out, you need to treat him gently.
Graham- I have been dating my current girl for 6 months. Of late she has been making up excuses not to see me. She tells me that she needs to keep contact with her friends that she had before I was on the scene.
GT: She is right; it’s very easy to drop all your mates when there is someone new on the scene, so please make sure you keep those friendships going. It’s a delicate line you tread keeping a new partner interested in you & maintaining friendships. How about asking to meet up with her friends and get to know them, then you know who she is seeing and the type of the person they are.
Graham – I suspect my husband is having an affair. He suddenly recently has been doing lots of overtime (which has never happened before) and he never seems to want to touch me.
GT: OK well you need to confront him on this, but think through the facts before you do – plus just be aware you may be jumping to conclusions. If you’re convinced of your gut feeling then you need to talk.
So, In Summary…
I think most of us that are or have been in a relationship know our partners well enough to know if things out of the ordinary seem to be splitting you up. If that’s the case it’s time to have a heart to heart & calmly talk over your feelings.
