If you have been married more than once what did you learn from the first time around?

If you have been married more than once what did you learn from the first time around?
Marriage in the UK is still a healthy union of two people – but quite often these days people jump in and out of marriage far too quickly.

  • What did you learn from your first marriage?
  • Have you been married more than twice?
  • Once bitten twice shy and would never marry again?

Here are some reactions I have received & my thoughts to them

GT, I was married to the wrong man- Why? Because we were school sweethearts and never experienced life before we got married. I still like the man, but don’t love him enough to still be married to him. Now found my Mr. Right and extremely happy.

GT: A mistake often made by many others – It’s great to have young love but I firmly believe you need to live a little before you commit to a long term relationship. It’s supposed to be the person you choose to spend the rest of your life with; can you really make these big decisions as a teenager?

Graham- I have now been married to 5 different women and just divorced the last. Is it me or them that are getting it wrong?

GT: Maybe a question you should put to yourself. You need to ask yourself if there is a recurring problem within those 5 marriages, if so then I think there is your answer. It could be that there are various reasons for them not working out. Once again take all the experiences and work out why they did not last.

GT – Married once and will never do it again- Quite happy to be a free agent woman and choose my men along the way.

GT: That’s your decision and I don’t know why the marriage did not work out, but leave the door open to possibilities in the future. Don’t cut off your nose to spite your face.

So, In Summary…

Marriage is alive and healthy here in the UK. My advice don’t rush into agreeing to marriage until you have lived a little and know that it’s the person you are sure you want to spend the rest of your life with. If it goes wrong then work out why and learn from the mistakes made.
